Digital Nomad visas
What is the Malta Digital Nomad Visa?
The Malta Nomad Residence Permit, commonly referred to as the Malta Digital Nomad Visa, is a special residency option for remote workers from abroad. This permit allows individuals to reside in Malta for up to four years. It is open to employees of foreign companies, business owners, freelancers, and self-employed professionals.
Requirements
A key requirement is that applicants must not be employed by a Maltese company.
Only citizens from non-EU and non-EEA countries are eligible to apply.
Additionally, applicants must
prove a minimum monthly income of €3,500 earned outside Malta.
The permit is initially granted for a period of 12 months and can be renewed annually up to three times.
Applicants must secure housing in Malta, either through purchase or rental, for the entire duration of
their stay.
Unlike some residency programs, the Malta Nomad Residence Permit does not provide a pathway to
permanent residency or citizenship.
